At Millets Farm Centre we are committed to promoting sustainability and continuously work to improve our practices.
We sell the majority or our fresh fruit and vegetables by weight without any packaging. You can also select exactly what you want from our butchery, bakery and deli counters minimising packaging and waste.
Low food miles
We grow a large selection of fruit and vegetables here on the farm and, where possible, source from local suppliers. We also make breads, cakes, desserts and much more in our own kitchens.
Second class fruit and vegetables are fed to the animals on our Animal Walkway. All other food waste is composted. We also donate weekly to the Abingdon Food Bank.
We regularly plant trees and hedgerows, plus wild bird cover, and pollen and nectar mixes, as part of our crop rotations. We have also introduced 11 beehives into our orchards to support the depleted bee population that is so vital for cross pollination.
During the summer months our solar panels provide 50% of the electricity required for our Farm Shop and Restaurant.
We are looking into installing EV charging points for staff and customer use and will continue to look at ways to further reduce plastic packaging from our Farm Shop and Restaurant. We’ll also continue to plant trees around the farm to capture carbon and increase biodiversity.
