SUSTAINABILITY
At Millets Farm Centre we are committed to promoting sustainability and continuously work to improve our practices.

Packaging
We sell the majority or our fresh fruit and vegetables by weight without any packaging. You can also select exactly what you want from our butchery, bakery and deli counters minimising packaging and waste.
Low food miles
We grow a large selection of fruit and vegetables here on the farm and, where possible, source from local suppliers. We also make breads, cakes, desserts and much more in our own kitchens.
Food waste
Second class fruit and vegetables are fed to the animals on our Animal Walkway. All other food waste is composted. We also donate weekly to the Abingdon Food Bank.
Biodiversity
We regularly plant trees and hedgerows, plus wild bird cover, and pollen and nectar mixes, as part of our crop rotations. We have also introduced 11 beehives into our orchards to support the depleted bee population that is so vital for cross pollination.
Solar Farm
During 2024 we extended our solar farm based here at Millets Farm, with the hope that one day it would generate enough power to supply our entire site. Recently, this went live and we are delighted to announce that we are now 100% powered by our own generated solar power
It has always been a goal of ours to be as sustainable as possible; through providing plastic free options in our Farm Shop, extending our loose range, encouraging recycling, reducing waste and nurturing nature.
We are thrilled that the solar farm is now active and is another big step forward in our sustainability goals.
EV Charging
We are in the final stages of getting our EV charging points live and ready for customer use. These will be accessed using the Tap app.
The future…
We will continue to look at ways to further reduce plastic packaging from our Farm Shop and Restaurant. We’ll also continue to plant trees around the farm to capture carbon and increase biodiversity.
