Millets Own Award Winning Apple Juice
Something we are hugely proud of at Millets is our home pressed apple juices.
We grow nine traditional varieties of apple, plus two pear varieties, in our orchards on the farm, using traditional systems. Varieties range from the wonderfully named Howgate Wonder and Lord Lambourne to the well known Bramley and Cox. When using apples to make juice it is important to allow the flavours of the apple to develop fully so that the fruit can express its varietal taste to best advantage. If the fruit stays on the tree too long those delicate flavours can become cloyed and over-ripe. We keep trying the fruit, and when we think its time to go – we get on with it. The fruit is selected and picked by hand from the tree. Our fruit is pressed on the same day it is picked to maximise the flavour. After settling overnight, the juice is bottled, and then pasteurised gently to preserve the freshly pressed taste with a good shelf life. We add no sugar, water, colour or preservatives, with only a little Vitamin C added to prevent oxidation (browning) the juice making it healthy as well as delicious!
