Farm Zoo and Childrens Play Area

Please note that some of the animals have been temporarily re-housed into their winter accommodation until March. Therefore, only the pigs, goats and ducks will remain in the Farm Zoo between Dec-March.

Millets Farm Zoo is adjacent to the fishing lakes, set in beautiful countryside behind the Farm Shop and Restaurants. We have a large variety of farm zoo animals which originate from across the world and graze all year round at Millets for families to enjoy watching and learning about.

Our Alpacas, Inca and Tango, originate from South America and are domesticated camels. Their thick fleeces need sheering yearly and these are used to make warm winter clothing.

We currently have 3 different coloured ponies which are mischievous characters who eat lots of grass, hay and even their straw bedding!

We have 2 small black Dexter cattle which are one of the smallest breeds and originate from the South Western region of Ireland. They have an excellent temperament and live alongside a brown and white Hereford/Simmental breed.

There are 3 different breeds of goat on the farm zoo site. These include horned black and white Saanen which originate from Switzerland, Pygmy goats which are a miniature breed and Toggenberg which have longer, more silky hair in comparison to the other breeds. The Petticoat Lane bridge is a new addition to the goats home so watch out for them crossing over head!
We also keep a selection of sheep, including 4 Jacobs which are black and white in appearance and a pedigree ram (Abraram) which can be heard from far away with his big, deep voice.

Our 2 Kune Kune pigs, meaning fat and round, originate from New Zealand where they have developed an excellent temperament due to their contact with Maori populations. They will usually come and investigate by the fence when you visit them. They are black and white, with coarse hair and tassles under their chins!
The Managlitza breed is also inquisitive and is a particularly hardy breed. They originate from the Austrian and Hungarian border, are fed cereal everyday and have thick curly hair.

A lakeside pergola allows wild fowl including swans to be fed and watched safely. This year we were lucky enough to have cygnets on the lake also. A flock of fan-tailed doves live around the stables and are fed wheat.

Childrens Play Area is located next to the Farm Zoo. It is a great setting in the country to have some fun in the fresh air. There is a mix of swings, slides and other playground equipment for all children to enjoy.
